My First Client
One of my first freelancing experiences came from a client I acquired via mutual friend. Cindy from Silqy.co asked me to design and create their review site. Their vision for the site, is unbiased, authentic beauty product reviews.
I decided that the best platform would be WordPress, as it allowed Cindy and her team to easily publish blog posts. Learning how to use WordPress is pretty straight forward as there are plenty of tutorials online that guide you step by step. It is also one of the world’s most used CMS, and thus is considered one of the best platforms for publishing content on.
The website has been laid out so that Cindy can post her content to the appropriate categories. For example, if she had an article talking about hair dyes, then she would categorize this content under “hair color”.
We’ve been working for months, planning out how the website will look, what features the website will have and how users will navigate the website.
Our first iteration of the website wasn’t up to par, because the website was lacking content, and thus it looked empty. For the time being, we’ve decided to set aside the UI design, and focus on publishing content.
We’ve come up with a few iterations of the home page design, that we will ultimately re-visit at a later time.
The color theme of the website will be a mix of pink and purple. The colors used will be considered ‘girly’ as the main target audience will be women in their 20’s to 30’s.
Cindy has years of experience working as a hair stylist, and thus knows what customers want. She hopes that by publishing her content, she can not only inspire women to try out new things, but allow women to get the best product for their money.
